So, I'm at work today and I'm about ready to go to lunch and I get a call from Mike. Not too great of news. It seems that the big corporate office for Lowe's is restructuring stuff and have decided to change the specialist positions around. They've decided to get rid of Electrical specialists, but (according to the boy) create a building materials specialist (and keep plumbing specialists) .. So, Mike's choices are these .. take a big paycut (about $400/month) and remain in Electrical as a CSA .. take a small pay cut (about $200/month) and hope that people at work might work with him and open up the team leader in electrical .. or work somewhere where he's likely to be fired within a few weeks 'cause he can't stand the department managers that he could be a specialist under (not to mention the fact that he doesn't want to work in either of those departments anyway).

Apparently, there's another team leader spot open in flooring, but he doesn't want to work with Bill again, (and there's one in windows and walls, but can you picture him selling blinds and curtains?).

Not only does this screw him, but I've been in the process of looking for another job in the banking field or something similar, but anything that I do will require me to take a paycut. If he has to take a paycut because he has no other choice in the matter (that's a realistic choice anyway) then I can't. I have to stay where I'm at and put up with the BS that I do because no one else will pay me the money that I'm making now so that we might possibly be able to pay our bills.

Not only that, but all the plans that we've been making for future things will go out the window too and we'll be back in the same boat as we were before (granted it's better than the position I was in on my own, but still) .. just trying to stay ahead.

I can't make more money unless I go back to school and finish that. I can't go back to school unless he's making close to what he's making now and we have no credit card bills. He wants to get into the electrical field, but that would require him to take a bigger paycut than he would be if he went to a CSA.

I feel so completely helpless now it's not even funny.
