Day 1 - Day one started very early. In fact, I could probably say it started the day before we left for California. Sunday was spend cleaning, doing laundry and packing for the trip. We loaded up the car and went to bed only to wake up at 2:30am. We left the house by three and were on our way. We drove to Baltimore, parked the car and drug all our luggage to the terminals. The flight was pretty good. We had planned to sleep on the plane, but they were showing King Kong and I kinda wanted to see that movie. It was a decent movie and it kept me entertained enough to not fall asleep.

We arrived at the San Diego airport at 10am pacific time. While we were waiting for the baggage to come off the plane, Mike was just looking around, staring at various things. I asked him what he was staring at and he said that he was staring at things that he'd never seen before. I asked him if he'd be staring at things like this all week and he said "probably."

We met William down the road and he led us to his house and we napped for two hours or so (kept getting interrupted by noise of the phone). We got back up at around 3 and decided to wander. We went to Ocean Beach and Mike didn't seem to be too impressed with the beaches (mostly because he wasn't used to Pacific beaches. The beaches he's used to are very commercialized with boardwalks and all.) After OB, we drove north and I showed him all the places that I used to live and go to school and stuff. Our old house has changed a lot. I don't think I like it as much now, but it's not my house anymore.

We met Erin at Fidel's in Carlsbad for dinner and then headed back to William's house. We were so tired by the end of that time. With the exception of the interrupted nap, we were awake for almost 24hrs.

Day 2 - We got up at about 7am and got showered and left before anyone else was up. We went out in search of somewhere to eat. We didn't find that until sometime later. We wandered down to La Jolla to the cove with all the seals. Mike loved that beach area. It was much more scenic with all the water carved rocks and the clear water. After walking around there for a while, we went back south and ended up stopping at a tavern called Hennessey's. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. It was very good and very filling. It was also a good price because today was Tuesday and they do two for one things on Tuesday. So, our two breakfasts and his coffee cost us $12.00.

We wandered back to Will's house with the intent to go to Sea World, but the admission there has gotten rediculous. $53/each plus $10 to park. We ended up getting 7 day Go SanDiego cards which will get us into just about everything we are planning to go see for no more money. They were $135 each. We found out about these because we were going to the Scripps aquarium today and they mentioned them.

We went to Scripps and they were doing a shark exibit. It was fun and interesting. My favorite thing there (as it always has been) is the Kelp Forest tank. It's just huge and spiffy.

After Scripps, we went to the Rock bottom Brewery for lunch/dinner and took the brewery tour and ate lots more food. We came back to the house, relaxed for a bit, then headed out to the GasLamp Quarter. We wandered around in there, had a drink at the Hard Rock Cafe, then wandered around Horton Plaza (a 5 story mall that takes up about 6 1/2 city blocks). We, of course, had to find the Hot Topic, but that's besides the point.

We wandered and shopped for a bit and somehow we got all turned around and almost got lost in downtown San Diego, found the Hustler store and wandered around in there, then we found where we parked (obviously).

We came back to the house and were relaxing again when there was a loud screech and a crash. We went outside to investigate (and to make sure that nothing happened to the rental car) and saw that there was a head-on collision. A BMW hit a Nissan truck and spun it around. It didn't look like anyone was hurt, but the cars were messed up. I now know what air bags smell like when they go off. The Nissan logo from the front of the truch was about 15 feet away from the vehicles and they were both facing the same direction.

We've got most the stuff planned out with what we want to do. We're going to skip the Queen Mary this go 'round since we bought this card, but Mike wants to go to the ships and the maritime museum here in SD.

We've got a lot of stuff planned, but Mike's really enjoying it, so it's definitely worth it.

I'm tired and I think I've covered everything up until this point, so I'm going to attempt to kick everyone out of the living room and go to bed.
